chuckbot update 1/30/08

cindel--- absent
mark--- downloading eagle
ariella---researching
anne---blogging
godfrey---blogging
alex---surfing the net
bugs---surfing the net

we are currently downloading the 'Eagle', a software that would make it easier for us to plan the circuit. What it does is it makes a plan for the pcb using the schematic diagram.

1/25/08
Mark has finished soldering all the components for the serial programmer. Ang problema na lang ay ang aming program.. hehe:)

Chuchbot Update January 23, 2008

mark, according to him.. slept at 2am for our embed project! wow! gRabeh na toh na effort!

ALTHOUGH.. nagkaroon xa ng mali.. somehow he forgot to connect the zeener diode.. also.. the PCB board that he choose to work on is somehow not that efficient because he still has to connect so many connection so that the Vss (the one for the negative) would be coonected to the negative and as the other components.

so.. Mikko and him decided that they would just work on it again..
uhm.. also.. we need to do the masking tape job for the other circuit board. the one needed for the robot... because the one we are making now.. if you still dont know is for the programmer of our PIC..

and now... currently ariella and mark are re-soldering stuff to the PCB.. and he just informed the group that maybe our LED is already broken and we have to buy one..

also.. just a background.. the project is now costing us aorund 600php.. and we still have more stuff to buy and spend on. like we still dont have a photodiode and phototransistor and furthermore still dont have the needed dynamos for the robot to move.. sad sad.. where on earth are we to find these stuff??? help!!!

please post some suggestions where to buy.. (kuno)

Arie and mark re-soldering the one that we did
(palpak kasi yung amin ni bugs..)

chuckbot update 1/16/08 ; 1/18/08

1/16/08

last Wednesday, I was absent due to abdominal colic and since The group needed the materials which was in my room inside the dorm, (At that time I was not inside the dormitory because i was rushed to davao doc) they went inside the dorm to get the materials. (FYI.. city scholars are not allowed to enter the dormitory)

1/18/08

the time was shortened to 40 minutes and mark was absent so what our group did was to determine the lacking materials and plan the circuit of the robot.

we still lack these materials...

we also made a time table so we could manage our time.

Jan.
18 finish circuit for programmer
19 buy missing materials
21 do circuit for the gadget
23 circuit making part 2
24-28 program making
program furnishing
30-31 program PIC96F84A

Feb.
1-4 test gadget
5-8 do the shell of gadget
9-11 test the finished gadget

Chuckbot update 1/14/08

Things done(11:00 am):
- the materials needed were already gathered.
- our group started to assemble the serial programmer for the PIC.

this is the schematic diagram for the serial programmer....

The Program and Schematic Diagram

Click this link below to view the program..

http://www.endtas.com/files/robot/projects/lightbug/lightbug.asm

This is the schematic diagram...

The materials...(Nose Bleed!)

materials needed for the PIC programmer:
(from batangyagit.yahoo.com)
18-pin IC socket
DB-9 connector (female)
BC547B transistor
5.1v zener diode
100 uF/16v capacitor
Resistors: 15k, 10k, 1k, 470
LEDs: 2 pcs. (preferably red for L1 and orange for L2)
for the circuit from www.endtas.com
2 motors - (dynamo)
8 transistors BC557
8 470 ohm resistor
2 10k ohm resistor
1 1k ohm resistor
1 22pF ceramic capacitor
1 4.7nF ceramic capacitor
1 photodiod
wires
(tip: we used a UTP wire straight thru)
this way.. it is cheaper and it is already
composed of many colored wires. cool noh???
hehehe.. got that idea from our EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
teacher.. which is also our COMPUTER SCIENCE
teacher MR. BEDUYA. we were using it for the
our networking class.

Chuckbot update 1/11/08

THINGS DONE:

-During the embedd period, our group analyzed the program through the help of Conrad Miguel Gozalo and Boon Lauw.

-We also planned for the construction of the robot.

-The robot will be constructed after the batch meeting on the same day.

Chuckbot

Chuckbot is our Embedded Systems project. It is originally the lightbug robot from www.endtas.com. The robot avoids obstacles through its infrared sensor.
